Chinoiserie Chic Christmas - Jasper Conran's Chinoiserie Christmas Tree

For Christmas of 2006, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London commissioned British fashion and homeware designer Jasper Conran to design their Christmas tree. He decorated the tree with 1000 Wedgwood crystal drops and emerald and aquamarine lights. Clear screens etched with Chinoiserie motifs surround the 20 foot tree, inspired by the Chinoiserie designs he used in his "Jasper Conran at Wedgwood" china pattern. Have you ever seen a more beautiful tree?

Chinoiserie Chic Christmas - The Christmas Tree

This series will include lots of examples of Chinoiserie Christmas trees. Here, from Martha Stewart Living, is a wonderful alternative to a traditional tree. Take an artificial bonsai, easily found online in all different shapes and sizes starting at around $40. Spray paint it with gold paint and dust it with gold glitter. Decorate with Chinoiserie ornaments of your choice - here they used lanterns and birds.
