With Mary McDonald's first book Mary McDonald Interiors: The Allure of Style on the cusp of being released, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of my favorite of her Chinoiserie filled interiors.

Michael Smith
I love how the formality of the Chinese ancestor portraits and the Chinoiserie cabinets are made more casual by the choice of the Cowtan and Tout Eaton Check fabric. The living room is by Michael Smith, as featured in House Beautiful.

Bamboo Director's Chairs
I was in a very expensive local home furnishings store over the weekend and saw a pair of bamboo director's chairs that looked identical to these at $700 each in a living room vignette. They were shown as sitting chairs along with a traditional sofa and lots of blue and white Chinese porcelain. I loved the look! I found these above at Walmart for $99.98 for a set of two. They are available elsewhere online as well. I think these could be very Chinoiserie Chic in a living room, dining room, breakfast room, or family room. Perfect for that Ralph Lauren/British Colonial look on a budget!

The Chinoiserie Nursery
Don't you love the idea of Chinoiserie wallpaper in the nursery? I found this photo via Pink Wallpaper. The child would obviously grow up having great taste and style.

Ralph Lauren Marlowe Floral
The Designer's Attic has this gorgeous Ralph Lauren Chinoiserie wallpaper Marlowe Floral that retails at $300 a double roll for $50 a double roll. It would be stunning for an entryway, dining room, powder room, dressing room, bedroom, or a nursery.
